Subject: Seminar on Social Entrepreneurship and Peace Building for Underprivileged Youth

ICx SEPLAA trainer: TALHA ZAHID, Bahawalpur.

Project: Write CV.

This is the report summarizes the seminar as to how our experience was of giving lecture to underprivileged students on social entrepreneurship and peace building. Seminar was conducted successfully at 03:00 PM ‘Best Way academy’ in ‘Basti Hamaytian’ where the students really needed to know about the term entrepreneurship. Mr. Abdus Salam was on time with all the things required for the seminar i.e. standies, refreshment etc. and started the seminar on time. The students from that area were really underprivileged.

Our objective of the seminar was to motivate the underprivileged youth towards positive attitude i.e. if they could not find job then they can produce their own resource and can be successful if other people cannot support them. They had no concepts about entrepreneurship and had never heard of the term social entrepreneurship. So, I used different examples to make their concepts clear about that.

The team asked them for their views on every step to involve them mentally in the seminar. Peace building was well explained to them and we also described the concept of conflict and how it can be resolved. We gave different examples of conflict and did an activity with them to show the impact of conflict on society and how conflict resolving is helpful in peace building in society. The team connected the social entrepreneurship to peace building and explained them how both are related to each other. The trainer explained them that social entrepreneurship will not only help people economically but it is also our duty morally and religiously to help all.

The underprivileged students showed a very positive attitude in the whole seminar and showed their potential to do something for themselves and society too. Some of them produced great ideas of social entrepreneurship that they wanted to start in near future and help their country and society grow. The whole seminar had a very positive effect on them and helped them to change their way of thinking. They showed their interest to change their mentality towards their future and get motivated to do something in their lives.

Following are the responses we received from people at the end of seminar:

Nafeesa Bano:

“I didn’t know many terms used by Sir but now I have many ideas in my mind about developing a social enterprise and provide benefit to people around me”.

Aqsa Jabeen:

“I actually have no idea of this organization before but now I am very glad to know that some foundations are still working for humanity and serving our country”.

Shabbir Ahmed:

“I will try to play role in peace building and will try to make a social enterprise that will be helpful for my poor villager brothers. I hope to see such seminars again because it is helping us to think positively about our country”.

Abrar Ali:

“After attending the seminar, I decided that I will try my best to be a part of such program that is helping in youth empowerment”.

Muhammad Bilal:

“The seminar was very helpful for me as I know now that we have to think about others as well besides just thinking for ourselves if we want to create peace in our country. SEPLAA really showed me the correct path to follow”.
