
On 11th June 2015, the first SEW-EGAP Networking Lunch for professional women was held and was attended by a number of prominent professional women. During the lunch, there was a discussion on the Dialogue topic, ‘Women in Corporate Sustainability’ and the SEW-EGAP members were introduced to professionally distinguished women.
The key speakers at the Dialogue included Ms. Shaista Hasan, HR Business Partner at CCBPL; Ms. Ayesha Shakoor, HR Business Partner at Fatima Group; and the SEW- EGAP Executive Council Members including Saima Asghar Riaz, Amna Zafar, Saadia Hammad, Zarin Shoiab. The speakers, along with other enthusiastic guests, engaged in thorough discussions during the Dialogue, which highlighted pressing issues faced by women in today’s corporate culture.
Some of the recommendations given by the participating women members included:
- Women must get paid maternity leave that should stretch to a year.
- Working mothers must be offered the facility of day care for their children in or near their work premises.
- Women must be given equal opportunity to a raise and promotion at work based on their performance.
- Women must be accepted as leaders in their fields where they have worked hard to excel themselves.
All the guests were urged to take part in the Dialogue and everyone had an equal opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions with each other.
At the end of the Dialogue SEW-EGAP Co Founders Zahra Wyne and Ammara Malik thanked the speakers, members and guests for their participation.
